Jones was followed to the line by Team Toyota teammate and Truck Series points leader Austin Hill who finished second. Stewart Friesen earned an eighth-place finish while rookie Derek Kraus rounded out the top-10 in 10th.
Victory in the Truck Series was a long time coming for Jones, “When I first started racing in my life, I saw the 51 late model and said I wanted to race with Kyle Busch Motorsports one day and win races,” Jones said. “We finally did it. We’ve been close in the past. Menards was on our Tundra, DuPont and those guys do so much for us in our sport. That was a heck of a battle and I know it was fun to watch on TV.”
It was a tough day for KBM teammates Christian Eckes and Raphael Lessard, who suffered incidents in the 60-lap event. Eckes cut a tire down while leading on lap 48, while Lessard’s day came to an end on lap five. The pair finished 33rd and 37th, respectively.
The Truck Series heads to Kentucky Speedway Saturday evening July 11th. The action kicks off at 6 PM ET and can be seen on FS1 and heard on MRN Radio as well as Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
